There are a number of changes occurring in the staffing process for both organizations and individuals. One change is the growing use of the Internet to facilitate matching employers with potential employees. To get a better handle on this change, I would like us to spend some time examining this phenomenon and getting more comfortable with this approach.

Opportunities for employers using the internet to find candidates can be exemplified by the recent “great reshuffle”. This phenomenon was observed party due to inflation but also due to the vast opportunities provided to candidates and employers to quickly staff highly skilled individuals. Compared to 10 or 20 years ago, there is now access to tens of thousands of job postings and “easy apply” features on many websites. The idea of applying for a multitude of positions in a short time span has permitted many people to consider new position in exchange for higher pay rates. Many companies can staff or backfill positions when somebody leaves easily.
The problem with internet recruiting is the prevalence of fake candidates and unqualified individuals. Because of the rush to hire in order to adapt to “the great reshuffle”, many companies may forego certain screening processes that would otherwise be deemed essential. Additionally, the ability to show pictures of each candidate may allow a certain degree of diversity. With that being said, it could be considered discrimination to specifically hire someone based on the race in their picture rather than actual qualifications. Also, If a “diverse” candidate is actually someone in another country, then this negates the idea of choosing candidates based on their diversity.

Internet-based recruiting is the primary source of choice. Technology today has increased vastly that a lot of companies today tend to use social media and other online resources to connect with people. Companies are able to widen their search and search for a perfect fit. Since the use of social media, HR can find out if a person is a good candidate by simply searching for them on Facebook or Linkedin. Although it can be helpful in a way for HR to recruit they can also get the wrong impression about someone if they were on their social media. Also, using the internet for recruiting can save the companies spending for the HR department. One of the downfalls in using the internet based-recruiting is that they may miss out on the most qualified individual. A person can easily portray themselves to be something they are not.
A diverse team enables businesses to be more inventive, creative, and successful. It seems to reason that having members of various backgrounds and viewpoints on your team will result in fresher, more varied solutions that will promote innovation. Auditing your previous job postings and making revisions to appeal to a wider range of people is one of the finest strategies to attract diverse prospects. The greatest strategy to increase diversity in your candidate sourcing is to naturally build an employer brand that values individuals and points of view from various backgrounds. With your team, discuss the advantages and significance of diversity, win their support, and integrate these ideals into your business culture.
